Note to Bereaved Parents

After loss, it is important to find support and healthy ways to live with grief.

My husband and I sought out a counselor together. It was the best decision for us and it helped us tremendously with navigating our emotions and making sure we didn’t lose sight of one another. Whether you are seeking religious or non-religious resources, it’s important to find a local support group near you. Check with local hospitals, search Google, Facebook, and ask around. I have met some amazing individuals by ‘simply’ taking those initial steps of finding a community. Hopefully, one of the resources below will get you started on feeling connected or help offer a small comfort.

With Love,
Claudia

Website: The Compassionate Friends was founded over 40 years ago when a chaplain at the Warwickshire Hospital in England brought together two sets of grieving parents and realized that the support they gave each other was better than anything he, as a chaplain, could ever say or provide. Meeting around a kitchen table, the Lawleys and the Hendersons were joined by a bereaved mother and the chaplain, Simon Stephens, and The Society of the Compassionate Friends was born. The Compassionate Friends jumped across the ocean and was established in the United States and incorporated in 1978 in Illinois.

Website: Making necklaces quickly became my passion, and The Cooper Project exists solely to provide a FREE necklace to moms who lose their babies. The Cooper Project runs entirely on donations.  Because of this, I started The Cooper Project Etsy shop to offset some of the cost of sending out free necklaces every month. So with every purchase of a necklace in my shop, a loss mother will get a free necklace.  The Cooper Project is not a 503(c)(3) yet, but I can assure you that every penny that is donated gets donated as a necklace. - Jen Chappell
